Bottom line: Karen Connors rocks! I've had the pleasure of working with Karen. Karen is diligent, very detail oriented, has a wonderful aesthetic sense, all the while keeping a calm and considerate attitude. All the suggestions she brought to the table were spot on but she incorporated all my requests and peculiarities as well. We had to change several things along the way as we discovered what was going on under the drywalls, and she was great in responding and helping us through those changes. She was also very organized, timely and responsive throughout the process. The cabinet makers that NKD works with are superb quality and we are very happy how everything turned out. Our first meeting to total kitchen renovation completion was 6 months (a little less than 3 months was the actual construction part). This all happened during pandemic lockdowns... Amazing!

We had the pleasure of working with Karen Connors from Newton Kitchen & Design on the recent renovation of our kitchen. The space was entirely reconfigured, and Karen proved to be an excellent partner in the sometimes overwhelming process. She actively solicited, listened to and interpreted our vision for both the aesthetic and functionality of the space. And she patiently and thoughtfully helped refine our ideas as our vision for the space evolved. The end result was a gourmet kitchen layout that optimized storage with a fresh, contemporary aesthetic. To begin, I was immediately impressed with the NK&D showroom and the welcoming and professional space. I partnered with Karen Connors, whom I highly recommend. Her energy and passion for kitchen design was evident from the beginning, and myself working as a residential interior designer, appreciated this from the start. Pierre is a top-notch kitchen designer, visionary, and craftsman. The level of service was superior as was his craftsmanship. He discusses the timelines of the projects, worker's schedules and his workers follow the plan to the T. We found Pierre through a local architectural magazine and struck gold. We had in mind a total gutting of our outdated kitchen and dining room. Our kitchen had country cupboards and we were looking for modernity. Pierre hence guided us to his showroom showed us and helped us select a style we wanted. We love the Wolf gas stove and subzero refrigerator. We went with beautiful white glossy cabinets customized with silver bamboo-style handles. In addition, Pierre introduced us to neolith countertops (resistant to high heat, staining, and very durable!). He also convinced us to go with high-intensity modern LED lighting ideas, sleek (and discreet) undercabinet lighting, and updated dimmers, and motion-detecting elements. He also helped us switch to a more suitable (modern) kitchen paint color and helped modernize our dining room with modern wallpapering, and curtains! All around, Pierre's value is that he has an eye like an artist and can imagine what is not there, and what could be there. He is a world-class designer and his ideas are modern, bold, and refreshing. We are so lucky to have found him!

This project involved a total kitchen renovation, putting a sleek, modern kitchen into a 1926 condo. Pierre at NK&D was responsive and creative, designing a spectacularly beautiful, one-of-a-kind, yet functional, kitchen that meets all our needs. Special touches included back-painted cabnet doors, a Nespresso pod drawer for the coffee nook, and inserting quartzite in the wooden floor along one side of the island. NK&D’s local workmanship matched the quality of its service. Every drawer is dove-tailed jointed. NK&D’s installation was also flawless.

We worked with Karen Connors. Her knowledge and ability to transform our kitchen was beyond our expectations. She listened to our needs and provided us with design options. We now have a kitchen we love which is much more functional. People often ask what is the 'one thing' I would change about our new kitchen and I can honestly say, 'not one thing.' I highly recommend Newton Kitchens & Design. We had a small kitchen in an old house that we wanted to renovate completely from the studs. I worked with Karen Connors at Newton Kitchens & Design and can say without hesitation that I could not have completed this project without her design acumen and caring support every step of the way. We are thrilled with the results after 2 1/2 months it took for the kitchen to come to fruition. It is well known that small kitchens are more challenging than large kitchens and this was not exception. The design and the cabinet design and installation was perfect for our kitchen. Karen was able to work seamlessly with our contractor and the cabinet installation team from Newton Kitchens & Design were professional and paid attention to the smallest details. When one afternoon I called with a small problem with one of the deep drawers, the head of the shop came and stayed until he had satisfied himself that this problem and all the remainder of the cabinets were working well. This company is professional, caring and totally customer focused.

Pierre and his team did an amazing job on the substantial renovation and design of our kitchen. It's been almost a year since the job was finished and, having now celebrated 3 large holidays with dinners of close to 20 people, we just love the kitchen more and more as a work space and as a beautiful room. The cabinets are very high quality. Pierre worked with us on the design of the doors and we actually created a design that was not one of the standard ones in the shop. The overall design of the kitchen was great-- they took what had been mostly wasted space and enabled us to use it efficiently. Pierre's suggestion that we cut into our large mudroom to create an alcove for the refrigerator, which we initially resisted, really opened up the kitchen to create much better working space (aesthetically better also!). I also can't say enough about the service. They made good suggestions, but never pushed their ideas on us when we disagreed. They reworked the design with us as we came up with different ideas and also to address cost. Karen spent almost 3 hours with us on a Saturday morning looking at granite that would match the tiles we had selected. They let us keep samples for long periods as we shopped for things to match. So, while they were a bit more expensive than other providers we had looked at, we think the quality construction and service were well worth it. We highly recommend Pierre and his team at NKD.

Prior to starting our kitchen remodel I had a vision of what I wanted as far as cabinetry and an overall look, after checking out numerous kitchen design centers in RI I knew I would have to look elsewhere for the modern and unique look that I wanted to achieve. Walking into Newton kitchen and design I was immediately impressed with the fact that it felt and looked more like an art gallery rather than a cabinetry showroom. It did not take me long to zero in on exactly what I wanted. Pierre Matta was so helpful and his enthusiasm for what he does is refreshing. When Pierre came to our home in RI to do some measuring and plan a layout he gave us some invaluable design advice and tips pertaining to other areas of our home and that was before he knew we were hiring Newton kitchen and design for the job. Pierre and his team designed a kitchen that matched my vision as well as our budget and his patience is unwavering. Pierre went above and beyond, helping and advising and was always available when I had a question or concern. Renovations and remodels can be stressful and tiring and ours were made so much easier by working with innovative professionals that never loose their cool and truly love what they do. We highly recommend Pierre Matta of Newton Kitchen Design (NKD). NKD and his team of expert contractors transformed our outdated, small, inefficient, and dark kitchen into a seemingly bigger and certainly brighter contemporary cook’s kitchen. Pierre worked closely with us to carefully select materials—countertop, cabinetry, backsplash and paint color—to brighten a room lacking direct sunlight and to maximize the size and efficiency of storage space and working surfaces. He did all of this without needing to construct an expansion or install new windows. Prior design advisors had suggested that both would be necessary to meet our objectives. Pierre was respectful of our budget yet often suggested ideas or products that would elevate the overall kitchen design for relatively minor additional cost. NKD defied the perception that home renovations are always behind schedule and over-budget. The contractors were professional, very tidy and a pleasure to have around. The project was completed on time and on-budget. Better yet, the new kitchen has exceeded our expectations aesthetically and functionally. Pierre was always responsive to our questions and closely monitored all phases of the renovation. We are thrilled with our NKD renovation and how it has transformed the nerve center of our house from dismal to beautiful.

Pierre did an amazing job helping us find a specific garage door for our contemporary kitchen. The door had broken several months earlier and we contacted Pierre as a last resort. With on-going perseverance, he spent a great amount of time researching the needed parts, finally locating them in Europe. This turned out to be a lengthy and difficult process. We truly appreciate Pierre's knowledge and commitment, as this was not a large job for him to undertake. I would recommend Pierre and his staff. Pierre did a fantastic job with our kitchen - we love it! He was very helpful each step of the way; from suggesting designs, materials, layout of the kitchen, to even going with us to other stores to help us select our appliances, countertops, tiles, and hardware. His cabinets are beautifully designed and crafted. Additionally, even though Pierre was in the middle of at least one or two other projects at the same time, he would always be at our house whenever we needed him to be and responded to emails/texts/phone calls immediately.
